Axis Hairdressing recently opened the doors to their new commercial shopfront, located in the M3 building in Braddon, Canberra. Helen from Sugar Designs was the interior designer for the project and she didn't hold back in designing one of the most beautiful Hair Salons in the Canberra region.
Well designed spaces like this make commercial photography a dream. As part of this project
Helen designed special, one off, custom made mirror boxes from clear perspex. The mirrors
hang from the ceiling and seem to float in the space. Her creativity on this project really shone
through from the spacing of the boxes to the cafe style waiting area where customers can have
a latte while they wait.
As a photographer, my favorite part of this project is the lighting. Each area has its own style of
lighting that makes it special. I'm a fan of old tungsten lights and they've been used here very
You can tell a project is special when it has the ability to make people stop and look. This is
exactly what happened while we were shooting out front. There were more than a few people
who stopped to peer in through the windows. I think that alone is a feat this day and age. :)
I do love to shoot a new, clean, well built home. Like cars have that new car smell, so do houses. That smell comes with new appliances, carpet and shiny new wooden floors which just adds a nice feeling when its done right.
This was another shoot for Hotondo Homes in Springbank Rise in Canberra. This display house is simply stunning and its a testament to Bruce and Katina who operate Hotondo here in Canberra.
